View/Collaborate Requests - Connections - View Only Timeline

Recommended Posts

At the moment the 'View Request'  option for connections allows the viewing of the request in the Employee Portal, but not the Timeline.

Enabling the 'Allow Collaboration' option allows them to both view and interact with the Timeline.

Can we an enhancement request to allow read only view of the Timeline but not being able to update it. Ideally controllable at the service level, or as a system setting which enables view only of the Timeline when a connection has been granted 'View Request' permission.

Cheers

Martyn

@Harry Hornbill

Any update on this please?

Why has visibility of the timeline not been included in the View option?

We do not want to give access to connection to update the timeline, but they need to be able to view the timeline to see the details of request. Having view access just to the initial sections of the request seems somewhat pointless without view access to the timeline.

Cheers

Martyn

I can see the 'inside-out' logic used here: the Request (table) itself does not contain the timeline updates which are in separate tables (buzz/activities) so literally permissions allow a read of the Request (not read of request and buzz/activities feed).

From an 'outside-in' approach, customers like us see the Request as a conglomeration of data from various tables giving a holistic picture of the issue at hand; and thus, we see the timeline as integral

There are other non-Request-table aspects to our common view of the Request record such as attachments, linked requests, connections, assets, associated tasks so your enhancement request might also include expectations for that.

I am +1 for the "View" option to show the customer visible timeline, attachments, questions.
