Izu Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 How can we set Asset field values (i.e. used by and owned by) to null/blank via the CSV Asset Import utility
ArmandoDM Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Hi @Izu importing the assets via CSV is only used to add assets, not update them. So, if you add an asset and do not populate the relevant properties for Used By/Owned By then these values will be left as NULL. Regards Armando
Frank Reay Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 @ArmandoDM We use this to Update assets quite successfully: https://wiki.hornbill.com/index.php/CSV_Asset_Import (ie not the csv upload function via the App screen) However it will NOT allow a value to be changed to blank/null. This is the case for all fields (not just Owned By / Used By).
ArmandoDM Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 Hi @Frank Reay thank you for the clarification, it was my misunderstanding, I thought it was the csv upload function via the App screen. I will mention the issue to the relevant team, to see if there is a way to achieve what requested. Regards Armando
Izu Posted March 16, 2021 Author Posted March 16, 2021 Thank you both for the feedback. @ArmandoDM Please, any response from the your team with regards to implementing this feature to the utility will be appreciated. Rgds, Izu
Steve Giller Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 @Izu The Database Asset Import tool can be configured to point to a csv file, allows updates as well as creating new assets, and includes a __clear__ function.
Izu Posted March 17, 2021 Author Posted March 17, 2021 @Steve Giller Please, could you provide more information on how this can be configured? Rgds, Izu
Steve Giller Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 @Izu I'm afraid I don't have any deeper insights than the documentation linked previously.
Frank Reay Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 @Izu We looked at this ourselves and my techie's recommended not to use it as the process was too complex and time consuming. I did think about paying HB to set it up for us but instead decided to work around the issues with the csv import process.
