Michael Sharp Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 How do we use a dashboard when ADFS is employed as a sign on method? Surely I don't have to keep an administrator logged in with a domain account? My screen is currently driven by an off domain machine and logged in as myself for the wallboard. Mike.
James Ainsworth Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Hi Michael, When using ADFS, the computer that is authenticating to Hornbill does not need to be on the domain. The authentication is for the user only. When accessing Hornbill from a browser, the user is prompted for their user name and password, there is an authentication hand shake between SAML and ADFS that determines if the user can be authenticated.
Michael Sharp Posted August 12, 2019 Author Posted August 12, 2019 @James Ainsworth is it correct that only an admin can log onto this? Ideally I want any of my team to be able to log the dashboard in without any editing rights to the dashboard and without access to all other admin pages. Regards, Mike.
James Ainsworth Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 You can grant access to each Dashboard. You don't need to be an Admin to view these. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure if this is read only access or not.
Dan Munns Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 @Michael Sharp we use a Hornbill only account called 'IT Wallboard' to display all our wallboards. Credentials are saved in Chrome / Password manager and it uses the 'backdoor' url to access the dashboards without the need for SSO so the machines can be on or off domain depending what else they are displaying. We just give it access to the required dashboards to display them around the business. Currently we have 6 wallboards using this account with no issues. 1
Neil Smith Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 When linking to Dashboards created within Advanced Analytics, I've been using the URL on Powerpoint presentations (ie, https://admin.hornbill.com/instancename/app/com.hornbill.servicemanager/analytics/dashboards/1/ However, the URL just sends the user to https://admin.hornbill.com/instancename/ Is there a setting we need to update with Service Manager, in order to point direct to the Dashboard URL? Many thanks, Neil
Neil Smith Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 @Hornbill Support Team Any advice on this please? Thanks, Neil
Steve Giller Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 @Neil Smith Is the user linking to the Dashboards from the Presentation already signed in to Hornbill with an active session and does that user have access to the Dashboard?
Neil Smith Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 @Steve Giller Thanks for reply. Yes already signed in (SSO) and is a Dashboard User, and the Dashboard has been shared with that user too.
