Jeremy
Currently, we cannot add any Assets manually into the database we have tried with two users who could enter these details, but when you click Create at the bottom nothing happens and the asset is not created. Please help.
James Ainsworth
Hi @Jeremy The first thing to look at is if there are any mandatory fields that need to be populated. Is the user getting the following message? Fields that are mandatory will be highlight in red, but you may need to expand the different sections to expose these. You can control which fields are required by changing the options on the Asset Type. If this is not the issue, then I would suspect that it is to do with the Rights or Roles. Regards, James
Jeremy
@James Ainsworth there are no mandatory boxes that are left to fill in, we have the correct roles including superuser and this is not allowing us to submit the asset to the database. Jeremy
Also there is no error message it just does not submit the form.
James Ainsworth
A long shot @Jeremy but could you try disabling the Grammarly extension. We have not had any other report of this happening and I'm unable to replicate so it at the moment I'm thinking it may be something to do with your environment. Which browser are you using? Maybe also worth trying in a different browser.
Jeremy
I have tried disabling and using a different browser but I still cannot add an asset, I have included the roles that are currently assigned to me:
James Ainsworth
@Jeremy Can you try removing the Super User Role and let me know if this makes a difference. I also see that you have a "Basic User" role in your profile. This is only intended for Basic users. These are users that don't have access to any applications in Hornbill. I would also remove this role.
Jeremy
@James Ainsworth I have removed both of these and still no luck.
James Ainsworth
@Jeremy Have you looked in the logs to see if there are any messages there? You need to look at the ESPServerService log. While viewing this, try to add an asset.
Jeremy
@James Ainsworth so it would seem that the creation of this asset is only 'erroring' when we create an asset that is a Core Application, all other asset types seem to be OK.
James Ainsworth
Was there anything in the ESPServerService log?
Jeremy
@James Ainsworth No there wasn't it was all normal, I'm starting to think that it is either an issue with the asset class or that there is a hidden/partially deleted asset with the same name in the database somewhere... Jeremy
I have just this morning created 2 new network switches so we can add certain assets.
ArmandoDM
Hi @Jeremy can you please double check that 'company' and 'site' are both set to ''visible'' or ''not visible'' on the asset type ? Regards Armando
Jeremy
@ArmandoDM please see image, they are not selected
ArmandoDM
Hi @Jeremy could you show which properties are set to visible and which one are not ? General properties and Additional properties. I would like to create an asset type with the same configuration as yours, and see if I can replicate the issue. Thanks Armando
Jeremy
These are the settings that we have for that asset.
ArmandoDM
Hi @Jeremy do you populate the Vendor when creating the asset ? I can see an issue when the Vendor is populated but Product and Version are not
Jeremy
@ArmandoDM Yes we do we have a list of all of our suppliers that we choose from
ArmandoDM
@Jeremy I will report this issue for fix. If you can, as a temporary fix, you can either remove the Vendor or add Product and Version too.
Jeremy
@ArmandoDM thank you, we have removed the Vendor and this has fixed our problem for now.
Jeremy
@ArmandoDM please can I also ask when you create scheduled tasks against assets where do these appear? Is there a list of scheduled tasks that can be viewed/edited?
ArmandoDM
@Jeremy the scheduled tasks against assets appear on the right hand side of the asset page. They can be created if you click the icon next to Activities. In order to create and view tasks, the asset must be In Policy. To put an asset In Policy, you need to have Configuration Manager installed. With Configuration Manager installed, you will see an icon on top right of the asset page (see screenshot). If you click on it, it will open the Explorer for that asset, where you you can put it In Policy . Hope this helps Armando
Jeremy
@ArmandoDM I have made the asset in policy and set up some scheduled tasks in the future but we cannot see them appearing on the right-hand side, or do they not appear until they are first created? James Ainsworth
Hi @Jeremy That's correct. A scheduled task does not appear until it is created.
