Adding hardware costs together for a total amount.

Hello,

When people make requests for new hardware it would be nice to show the total cost of their selections.

The Value/Display of a simple list seems logical but I can't find any clear answers on this forum to tell me how it might be done. Is there anyway to add together the items selected from a dynamic checkbox list during the IC or some other way to do it?

Example: user ticks Display:"item 1" Value set at 400, Display: "item 4" Value set at £10 and Display:"item 7" Value set at 15, the total would be a custom field that adds those selections and displays £425. The £ sign is not required but nice to have.

The total would update based on the selections made by the user.

Is there any way this can be achieved?

If I've missed a cart function or similar then I would be grateful for insight into where it lives!

Thank you.

Please be sure to read the full thread if you look at this as an option, particularly the closing message:

In summary, by all means, you can very well use this at this time, and there is a possibility that what you implemented here will always work but we cannot guarantee it will always work which means there is also a possibility that this configuration will stop working in the future. This is something I would advise to bear in mind when implementing solutions like this.

@Steve Giller Thank you, I did find this myself and didn't action on the basis of the warning and reading the full thread. Another thread was also similarly cautioned against.

I was looking for a stable/supported long term solution, on the assumption that I can't be the only person who needs to do this, but I guess it's not possible.

Victor has advised other users that the Workflow is not a code supporting place, so I wondered if there was anything that would handle these requirements that I might have missed.

Apologies.

This is (as you found) a topic that has come up before, but I would not be in a position to know whether there is active development on this.
Customer engagement in supporting ideas is a factor in progressing suggestions like this, so your interest will have been noted internally, however I couldn't comment on whether there is any movement on this idea.
