is there a way to customize the search bar or at least change the position?

I agree that the search bar would be better placed where you have suggested.  We do have some planned work to look at the layout of the portals.  I'll look to see if we can include this.  The challenge at the moment is that this area is also used for the Bulletins.  We will need to see how we can accommodate both.

what about having a different foreground/background color to highlight the search bar, something like this:

I realise that this is an old post, but has there been any more thought on customising the Search bar in the portal please?

I've just been asked the same question by someone who completely missed the search bar when they logged in to the portal for the first time.
