ljbrown
We’re looking to possibly go live with the change management process within our Service Manager system but need to complete testing/configuration of the other elements before a complete switchover for all of our incident management etc. If we’re to do this however, we’d still need to run the data clear down utility after our testing is complete, would it be possible for a custom reset script to be provided so that it clears everything from the system with the exception of anything relating to Change Requests and its corresponding calendar? We’re just exploring options at the moment so if you could please let me know what may be possible it would be greatly appreciated.
Martyn Houghton
As you mention this would currently need to be a custom script from Hornbill, as the current Request Cleaner is all or nothing. Having ability to do selective clear down using a SQL query, much like Request Loader, is something we have raised before, as we too are looking at phased deployments, all be it with different departments coming on board rather than different request types. Victor
@ljbrown our developers recently improved the Clean Utility tool to allow clearing down requests based on request class/type. Sill waiting to be released, they should follow up with more details soon
Steve G
Hi @ljbrown, I've just released version 1.0.3 of the Hornbill Cleaner Utility to Github. This version allows you to specify the class of requests that you wish to delete. For further information please see the Hornbill Wiki page: https://wiki.hornbill.com/index.php/Hornbill_Clean_Utility And the Github Repository: https://github.com/hornbill/goHornbillCleaner/ Kind Regards, Steve
Martyn Houghton
Steve Is there any plans to extend this to allow more precise selection criteria for clearing down records, as in our case it is not class specific, it is department/service specific, where we are migrating in other desks into the live system where we already use the request classes. Cheers Martyn
ljbrown
Fantastic thanks Steve, that's just what we need. If we reset the auto values after removing all incident and service request records, will it still retain the existing Change Request call id's and any new change requests continue on from the last sequential number or would they restart from 001 as well, potentially resulting in duplicate id's? ljbrown
Hi @steve_g I'm trying to run this utility but within the v1.0.3 zip file there appears to be no hornbillcleaner.exe file? Can you please upload this asap? Thanks, Lucy
Victor
@ljbrown you can download the Win version for the tool here: https://github.com/hornbill/goHornbillCleaner/releases. The link is available from "Releases" section on the main page. Also the link to the ZIP file is available on our wiki here: https://wiki.hornbill.com/index.php/Hornbill_Clean_Utility in the "Windows Installation" section. ljbrown
Fantastic thank you, I was just clicking on the download button to the right, I hadn't realised I needed to look under releases.
Victor
@ljbrown I did the same until our devs pointed me in the right direction For future reference, it might be easier to try and get the desired tool from the wiki where we have direct links to download sections on GitHub (another thing I have learned yesterday )
