SteveJM
We have a 3 Smart Phone Assets in our Hornbill CMDB, these assets are linked to Service Request tickets. The tickets are closed. We want to change the Asset Type of these devices from Smart Phone to Andriod Phone, while maintaining the existing links to the Tickets. i.e. we want the change the Asset Type for a given asset(s) How do we do this? Jim
It's not recommended to do this by Hornbill as different classes advanced details live in specific tables to the class, but in my experience as long as its of they same class it works fine . I was able to change some computer to servers as they had uploaded incorrectly by using the csv import and overwriting the type id for each asset I need to change. but you couldn't change say type laptop to a mobile so on so forth and I have had no issues with these Hopefully this makes sense but as stated Hornbill do not recommend this.
SteveJM
Hi Jim. Thanks for the response. >> I was able to change some computer to servers as they had uploaded incorrectly by using the csv import Did you achieve this using the asset_import.exe tool? philip ross
I tried that but it creates a new asset. What do you mean by type_id? I need to change some assets from Desktop to Laptop?

Jim
@philip ross you still have to treat is as the asset type it currently is, and update the h_type to the new type... I would only advise this if it is the same class!
