Copy Service option

Is there any plans to provide the facility of copy a service in order to duplicate it? With more details and configuration going into services, it would be really useful to have the ability to duplicate a current service and the modify it, either to make a new service or as a revision to the current service.

There are no imminent plans to introduce Service cloning, however could I ask if there are any specific aspects of the Services Configuration which is most time consuming or if it is it simply the ability as you say Martyn to take a carbon copy and then modify it?

For out point of view it is the ability to copy it as a whole including subscriptions etc, as a new service set as pipeline, so it is not visible to the customers. Make your revisions and then mark as catalog at the same time as marking the source as retired.

It would also be useful when you are first implementing the system and creating your initial services.

+1, after redesigning our Services last month to a more user friendly position, I cna confirm this would have been a god sent.

+1 from us too please.  We could use this.  We have all our 'services' that we offer to our customers patternized, so at some point we would like to automate the build of the services directly from our patterns making it as much as 'single button press to deploy' as possible.

Hi Marytn,

Nothing at the moment.  There is some planned work to look at the overall form for services.  It has become quite complex and needs looking at.  This will most likely need doing first before we look at a copy feature.

Hi Sam,

My previous post still stands.  Changes around the design of the Service are still being looked into.  Until a decision is made on a possible new structure, other changes such as copying a service wont be planned until after this has taken place.
