Good afternoon,

Not sure if this is a defect or not, but I have a "General" Team with users in there and I want to be able to send an email to these users without having to hard-code these users email addresses into the workflow.

There are currently 3 users in the group, and one of them is a "Full" user and the other two are "Basic" users.

So when I use the Get Email Address for Group Members utility, it only gives me the email addresses for the "Full" user:

No documentation anywhere specifies that this function can only be used for "Full" users, and it doesn't make sense to not be able to include "Basic" users (ie. what if we needed to send an alert to an entire Service, for example for down time or major alerts).

Please advise if this is a defect and if not.

If it's not a defect, then I would like an enhancement to...

  • Add an parameter to the above node called Include with the following options
    • "Basic Users Only",
    • "Full Users Only" (Full Users Only should be the default if not defined)
    • "Basic and Full Users"

Please could a mod update the tags where applicable.

  • samwoo changed the title to Get Email Address for Group Members - Why doesn't it return email addresses for Basic Users?

Can you confirm if it is a group or a team?

Basic users can't be added as a member of a team.  There was a time when basic users could be added to a team, but this was removed quite some time ago.  If you are asking about a team, then possibly, some basic users where added to the team before this was put into place.  Teams and their members have functionality, such as tasks, that require a full subscription.  Having basic users as part of a team would have been problematic with actions such as assigning a task to a team.

Hi @James Ainsworth,

I can confirm that it's a "General Team" group and not "Team" team.

(this group I created is not for request assignment).

I created the General group today and added in the 2 x Basic and 1 x Full User.

The node above only pulls the email addresses the the Full User, and doesn't include the Basic users.

A change has been completed which will be included in the next Core release.  The default on the automation will remain the same as it is now, but it will include options to return the email addresses of just Basic user or both Basic and Full users.
