"Show the time spent field when completing the task" setting reverting

I'm designing a new workflow, and have a couple of tasks where I've unticked the "Show the time spent field when completing the task" setting. Upon publishing and testing the workflow, I'm finding this setting has somehow reverted when the task is created, and when I go back into the workflow/bpm designer.

On a related note, I did notice the other day that the "time spent" appeared on a task I was completing on a live request, even though we usually untick this setting. I thought it seemed odd, but just thought I must have forgotten to untick it for that particular workflow at the time, but now I'm wondering if that is not the case.
