Automate profile code creation?

Is there any way to automate the creation of a profile code within the BPM or via API?

No, that's not something there is a Workflow node for, nor is there a public API.

Can you elaborate on what you're trying to achieve in case there's anything we can suggest?

Once new software is approved for use under Release, we would like to create a corresponding request category for it. Quick enough task to do manually, but thought it may as well be automated if the option to do so was available.

We do this slightly differently. When there is a new software approved we add it to a Simplelist (which can be done via workflow, as can removal).
