telephone number formatting

Recommended Posts

The trouble with telephone numbers is there isn't one format.

For example an area code can be between 3 and 6 digits, and may or may not be wrapped in brackets, and the number itself can be from 4 to 8 digits.
Sometimes the international code is required, with or without brackets and with or without a preceding '+'
If an international code is required the initial '0' of the area code may or may not be desirable.

Adding one in the format you specify is easy enough - but one that would work for all customers is not such an easy task. I won't say impossible, as our developers are really quite clever.

@robertmichell

You can design your own mask, there is a question mark icon next to the "Masked Input" field. Click it to open help where you can read how to do it yourself.

As an example, let's take a typical phone number  7975 556677 - a mask that will work for it will be: 9999 999999

If you need some optional numbers inside, you can wrap it with [] (square brackets). So for example +44 7975 556677 the mask will be [+99] 9999 999999

You can quickly test your mask in the test field that will appear below once you define your mask.

Thank you,
Miro
