Matt Parker
Just a quick question, we are having a reorganisation and I need to change some of the Structure of the Teams. If I create new Team names, or re-name Teams, will the existing members of those Teams orphan the Requests currently assigned to them or will they move with them? Some of the Teams are Child Teams so I can’t just rename them but want to make them standalone Teams.
Bob Dickinson
Hi @Matt Parker Renaming a team is simply a label change, and any existing members or tickets assigned to that team will remain. Any new team that you create will need to manually have team members assigned to it. Hornbill doesn't have any concept of inheriting members or requests. If you need to create some new teams (for structural purposes) my advice would be: 1) Create the new teams 2) Add the members to the new teams 3) Reassign your tickets accordingly 4) Remove the old unneeded teams Just also be conscious of other areas of Hornbill that may be referencing your old teams that may also have to be updated - for example Business Processes Supported Teams on Services Reports/Analytics Tasks (may be assigned to Teams) Kind regards Bob
Matt Parker
Hi - Bob, thanks for clarifying. As I suspected it's going to be a bit manual due to the large volume of requests. Also thanks for the reminder on the reporting, I hadn't thought about that yet!
Peter Clough
As a related follow-up, if a Team is decommissioned and then deleted, after all active requests are dealt with of course, what would happen to the Closed/Cancelled requests, would they show as being with that team as a read-only memory, or would they effectively drop into No Team Assigned?
