EWA Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 I hope this is a very simple question - is there are difference between the contacts record accessible from the frontend Customers> Contacts and the contacts under Guess Access (External)? The reason I'm asking is that we had a solution implemented and in the handover - we were specifically told to use the frontend Customers> Contacts not the ones under Guess Access. However, looking at the records the contacts were created under the frontend Customers> Contacts existing External contacts and in fact are easier to view.. I'm typing up a document so what to be 100% sure.
Martyn Houghton Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 @EWA This is my understanding. We always create them in the main app not in the Admin Tool Guest Account area. A contact is created for an external customer linked to an organisation. A contact may but does not have to have access to the Customer Portal. Guest Accounts are in essence a view of the contacts which allow you then to allow customer protal access, set their login id, password and now two factor. Creating a contact in the Guest Account screen would in essence create a contact which is not linked to an organisation so could cause issues in your Service Manager if you are expecting all contacts to be linked to an organisation. For future reference, it might be worth logging this type of query under the 'CRM External Customer Service Support' topic. https://community.hornbill.com/forum/153-crm-external-customer-service-support/ Cheers Martyn 2
