EWA Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 I've been given a request to manage certificates expiry, so that the relevant team is made aware 2 months in advance before the expiration date. Thought, I could use Asset Management and Licence expiry field but and then? That's the easy bit but how to then create requests ? Any ideas welcome.
Frank Reay Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 I have exactly the same requirement! I don't believe you can use the Licence Expiry field. This is why I raised an enhancement for Scheduled Requests (see below) which has now been rolled out. That is great but in its current state it would be too difficult to manage for my purposes (see below again). In any event it is not currently linked to Asset Management which would be even more fantastic as it would enable some really useful automation. 1
samwoo Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 I've raised requirements for there to be asset fields for Certificates in the past: As I had no response, in the end I created a SSL Cert type within the Software class, and used the licence expiry, renewal and start date to record the SSL Cert dates. It is a shame we cannot have label translation per Asset Type. Anyway, to have the tickets log automatically, I had to use an external PowerShell script to do the legwork, so you might need to look at running a process externally to achieve this.
Steven Boardman Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 @EWA in the admin console, you can now schedule requests, and when setting these up you can search for an associate an asset for each request. Assuming you are holding the certificates as assets, you can set up the scheduled requests from here, and associate the relevant asset to each. You can set these up on a schedule to run - but you would need to manually set the schedule and figure out the 2 months of each certificate expiry date, but then these could run each year, and you can use the workflow of the request to assign these to the appropriate teams. 1
