Any workflow (BPM) elements that can 'discover' if a Customer has other open Requests?

Our Service Desk would like to automate the check for open Requests for Leavers. I can't think of any "Get" nodes in the BPM that would enable this? It would ideally be like the Asset nodes to Add (link) other Requests.

Off the top of my head, could the  (HA) string utilities be used to carry out a search on the variables you need? It wouldn't be pretty, but you could output it to the timeline.
