There was a problem in saving the new asset. Check if an asset with this name already exists in the specified type

We are trying to create a new asset in Service Manager, however we are receiving an error message saying it can't be saved. We've checked in Asset Manager and can't find anything with the given asset number. 

Any ideas what could be causing this?
