Damian Roberts Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 I would like the user import template to be updated so that you can add organisation and 2FA details about a new user. We have just done a large import of users which then needed to manually updated with each user's organisation and if they needed 2FA. It would be also be good if you could add details for other fields as well, e.g. job description.
Steve Giller Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 @Damian Roberts I've tagged this as an Enhancement for you. If you could clarify what "other fields" you are thinking of, as (based on the above criteria) the absolute best you'll get is just Job Description. (Please note that although all Enhancement Requests are considered, this does not indicate that they will make it to release.)
Teresa Ward Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 thanks for tagging as an enhancement. We are imminently going to be uploading another 60 - 70 users so it would be great if we could get the extra fields added. We would need the following fields included as optional Organisation 2FA settings Job Description
Steve Giller Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 @Teresa Ward What are you using to import the Users? As far as I can see, Organisation and Job Title can already be imported. I don't know what 2FA details you would expect to be added, but I would assume that this is a potential security issue if you have their 2FA information to pass into an Import, maybe you could clarify what you are thinking of here?
Teresa Ward Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 I'm using the usertemplate that you can get from the create new user option, see the included fields below, this will create users from the fields listed but we additionally want all these users to be in a particular organisation and to be able to add job descriptions. Crucially, all these accounts need to be 2FA enabled. This field is available when you create a user individually but not on this bulk upload form, we would just need to set it to email so they can get a verification code to logon using Hornbill Direct Login
Steve Giller Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 I'm not aware of any plans to update that area of the product as we would recommend using one of the User Import Tools that offer much greater functionality: The LDAP User Import for an LDAP compatible source (commonly Active Directory), The Azure User Import for Azure AD, or The SQL User Import for a database import, including CSV or Excel files. All of these allow Organisation and Job Title to be included, and I believe the Azure and SQL imports allow the 2FA setting to be set.
Teresa Ward Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 thanks Steve these users are external partners so not on our AD or Azure, I'll ask someone to check out the SQL import to see if we could use that
