Where is annualMaintenanceReviewDate?

that annualMaintenanceReviewDate is a general property, but I don't see it as an option under an asset type to make visible, so where is it?

It doesn't show as deprecated in the API documentation: Operation - com.hornbill.servicemanager::Asset/addAsset

I would suggest checking your translations, it would appear that on your system the name has been changed to Acquisition Date.

You were right about where the date is stored, but I can't find the Acquisition Date field under User Interface Translations (hornbill.com) to rename it:

As this is part of the Service Manager application, the best place for looking at translations is by going into the Service Manager Configuration and selecting Translations. You should be able to search on the text Annual Maintenance Review Date to display the matching translations strings.

 

When viewing this, you should be able to see the difference between the Default and the Translated where this may have been changed to Acquisition Date.
