Can I update data in the backend? I want to update custom_p for a number of requests

Can I do this? Like an Update query on that field for defined records in Database Direct?

Or perhaps an autotask but then I'd have to edit the node to change the text I want in that field for every one of the 30 records.

Or perhaps add the custom_p field to the form designer for all my services with problems and then edit manually from the Details section and save?

Anything else?

You cannot write to the database in Database Direct.

An AutoTask on a Request should be able to use an Update Custom Fields node to populate Custom P

I've not tested this, but I don't see why that should not work.
