Asset scanning. I'd love to know what people have tried / what works to scan assets and handle them in workflow

We want a solution where physical assets can be scanned-in and then either, 1) be presented on screen for the agent to update their desired field or 2) have that update automated in workflow.

You know, it's a barcode scanner that sends the field data to a lookup, that hits a BPM and takes the action required.

I would love to hear what Hornbill know works or recommend or have designed for and what any other users/organisations have tried and either succeeded or failed with.
