Add asset to linked request

We have a process which asks for the customer to add the asset (laptop) that the request is based on. This is for peripheral items to be procured (charger, laptop bag, external mouse, keyboard etc). 

The initial request is raised and then we raise a linked request based on what was ordered. 

I can't seem to see how to add the asset which was selected in the original request to the linked request. Is there an operation that would do this please?

Although in that thread the "Asset" turned out to be a supplier ...

Is what we're looking for here an Enhancement to add an Asset by the Asset ID rather than by the Owner's Assets?

Yes I think so please...to be able to pick up the asset ID which is already linked to the original request and to link it to the 'other' linked request (if that makes any sense!!)
