Get Assets node in BPM failing

I'm trying to use the 'get assets/Add Customer Assets' node in a BPM to retrieve assets owned by a particular user.

I'm using the 'get User Details' node to retrieve a particular user (which works because I update a task with that users' name). 

I'm then using a 'Add Customer Assets' node and change the 'user id' field to variable, and then select the UserID from the Get User node, but this fails to bring any assets back. 

 

Any ideas please?

What are you seeing in the variables if you push them out to a Timeline Update?

The variables from the 'Get User' node are all correct (I've added these to the Human Task as described).

The 'failure' bit in the same screenshot of the task is the outcome of the Get Assets node.
