Ann
Afternoon Hope you are all safe and well. Please would it be possible to advise if there is a way of automatically creating an Incident from a monitoring/alerting email such as SolarWinds and if so how we would go about setting this up? Thank you. Kind Regards Ann
Steve Giller
Any email can be used to create a Request with Email Routing Rules. The key is in having the email present the information in a consistent format, which you would expect to be the case for an alert email.
Ann
Thank you @Steve Giller, that is fantastic and will look into setting these up. Thank you. Hope you have a lovely rest of day.
Alisha
Hi @Steve Giller, Is there a way to add an exception in the rule? For example, if SolarWinds sends a particular alert several times, we only want the first one in a particular timeframe to be logged. Many thanks, Alisha
Guest Mary
Hi @Alisha The above exception is not currently possible.
Steve Giller
@Alisha No, that's not available, I'm afraid. Personally I wouldn't expect a monitoring system to send the same alert for the same reason multiple times. Once an issue is identified I'd expect additional updates to indicate that it's for an existing issue, which would be a different email (e.g. "Lost connection to X" would be the first and "Connection to X still lost" for subsequent ones - these could be ignored or applied as updates with a different rule.
