Unable to add basic user to Self Service Request Cancel User role

Recommended Posts

Hi,

One of my colleagues is unable to add users to the "Self Service Request Cancel User" role.

He is configured with Admin role and can configure all other settings in Users, including adding to other roles.

He gets an error:  You cannot create or update the role as you do not have sufficient permissions to set the application rights.

Regards,

Will.

Hi @Will J Douglas

Your colleague most likely does not have the role he/she is trying to assign.

Hornbill is designed to only allow the association of roles if the User who is performing the assignment of a particular role has the same system/application rights among the roles that they themselves possess.

Hi @Mary

He doesn't explicitly have the Self Service Request Cancel User role but neither does he explicitly have the Self Service User role and he can add people to that role without issues.

Surely an Admin role should provide access to add / remove all roles?    Either way it seems to be inconsistent.

I've added him into the Self Service Cancel User and it has fixed the problem but this suggests something wrong with the code if it not the same for other roles?

Regards,

Will.

Hi @Will J Douglas

Your colleague may not explicitly have the self service user role but he does have the application/system rights among other roles allocated to him e.g.  Service Request User role includes the self service application rights defined in the Self Service User role as shown below

In other to allocate the Self Service Cancel Service Request right, your colleague needs to possess this right. This is not included in the other roles he already has, hence the need to add it.

It is also important to note that the Admin role is not the same as the Admin User account (which has super user role). https://wiki.hornbill.com/index.php?title=Roles
