grahambird80 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Is there any way to force the Hornbill system to pull mail from the mailbox? We had an issue preventing the configured mailbox IMAP connection which has been resolved and the test shows success, but no mail is being pulled from mailbox to hornbill mailbox? Is there anywhere to see logs for mailbox activity?
Victor Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 @grahambird80 have you done a connection test for the respective connector? is that successful?
grahambird80 Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 Yes have tried this and works ok, but mailbox not pulling emails.
Victor Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 @grahambird80 can you check this log and see if there is anything like this in there?
grahambird80 Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 Looks ok to, we can see the errors connecting but once we fixed the permissions on the mailbox its OK
Victor Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 @grahambird80 if no errors in the mail importer logs then there is nothing for Hornbill, I'm afraid... if there is an issue for why IMAP is not pushing the emails to HB, that would be something that mail server admins can look into perhaps?
grahambird80 Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 Isn't Hornbill IMAP a pull from the source mailbox?
Victor Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 @grahambird80 IMAP, as in the protocol, is technically a push email system. The new email is pushed as it makes it way from the mail server, in this case O365, to the mail user agent, in this case Hornbill.
grahambird80 Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 Further investigation of the logs shows that when it was working we can see the connection stating the service account\mailbox but now it just shows the service account but no mailbox?
Victor Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 @grahambird80 did you recently change the password for this connector? If yes, does the new password have any of these: */\?@
grahambird80 Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 No we have not changed the password recently (last set in 2019), but the password does contain one of those characters
Victor Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 10 minutes ago, grahambird80 said: when it was working we can see the connection stating the service account\mailbox That log entry uses the info in the Server field and the info in the User field (uid). It does not add any other text. So if the uid did show the service account\mailbox then this is what is/was set in User field.
grahambird80 Posted January 22, 2021 Author Posted January 22, 2021 OK cheers, looks like we need to have serviceaccount\mailboxalias in the connection as that is now working
