Unable to archive users: Cannot archive user with documents owned.

Am receiving the error message - Unable to archive users: Cannot archive user with documents owned - on two analysts that have left the company. They have no documents in their names that i can find and no open calls. 

Is there a way I can find out what this referring too as I would like to be able to archive them off and free up their licences.

That message is telling you that there are one or more Documents in Document Manager that the user is currently the owner of.  You can login as that user and look at document manager under "Documents I Own" and reassign ownership, or delete them, whichever is appropriate to do. Once you have done that, the system will allow you to archive the user account.
