Jeremy
Is it possible to create bulletins via a BPM? This would be great to allow the creation of these as we are looking to use the the Service Status functionality to mark services as impacted etc, however if there is a system that is down etc and as part of this we would like the opportunity to create a bulletin to display on the Employee Portal. Maybe we could have our own stock imagery for maintenance/failures etc to link for images and then the text is pulled from a custom field etc, also when the maintenance is over or the system is fixed via the BPM we can then remove or retire the bulletin.... James Ainsworth
Hi Jeremy, There isn't anything there at the moment for creating content for the Employee Portal via the BPM. I'll ask and see what the feasibility of this is. Regards, James
Guest Ehsan
Hi @Jeremy, As mentioned by James, we currently don't have a Hornbill Automation to create a bulletin through the BPM. Any considerations here would have to be within the Employee Portal, a BPM operation in Hornbill Collaboration (rather than Service Manager) to provide the ability to create a Link for the Employee Portal. As you may know, in the Employee Portal, the equivalent functionality to bulletin is referred to as Links (For more information, please refer to Links section in this wiki page https://wiki.hornbill.com/index.php/Employee_Portal_Widgets ). Our long term plan with the Employee Portal is to provide administrative options to create services and related entities (Links, FAQ, Service Request), we're still polishing up this area and we have more phases and exciting plans for the Employee Portal. We'll have to wait a little longer before providing a suite of Hornbill Automation in the BPM around the Employee Portal. Thanks
Jeremy
Hi @Ehsan we have already transitioned to the new employee portal which is why we now want to utilise this more and automate bulletins due to links with critical requests.
Guest Ehsan
@Jeremy, I am aware that you've already transitioned over to the new Employee Portal. Our primary focus is to ensure that new offerings and our development efforts in and around self service is applicable to the Employee Portal. The ability to create a Link (or bulletin in Service Manager terminology) will be added to the Hornbill platform in the future (along with creating services) and to align our development efforts, we'll have to consider new BPM operations that would enable/disable features in the Employee Portal to move away from Service Manager. We'll continue to discuss this internally and I will get back to you once when I have more details to share. Ehsan
Guest Ehsan
@Jeremy, I am pleased to let you know that we have raised a new enhancement request, this has been assigned to our development team. Ehsan
Jeremy
@Ehsan how is this progressing?
Guest Ehsan
@Jeremy, This is still in the planning stage and has not been prioritised in our 90 day development window. We prioritise enhancements based on the number of community members requesting the feature, hopefully as more interest is shown in automation within the Employee Portal, this enhancement will move closer to the top.
