New widget - iFrame

Hi,

Can I request an iFrame widget to display on the employee portal to show things like Google Maps/you tube videos etc.

There is a problem implementing this widget as most websites denny displaying their websites in iframes because it set 'X-Frame-Options' to 'sameorigin'.

Unless you will allow your own specific domain to be displayed by others, it is not possible to be used.

Ok. Could you allow HTML code in the links widget? Like:

<iframe width="600" height="450" frameborder="0" style="border:0"
src="https://www.google.com/maps/embed/v1/place?q=place_id:ChIJs_-cPeBsdkgR2BHwGRRVI2Q&key=..." allowfullscreen></iframe>

would show a google maps frame focused on your office if I embedded it into a webpage.

@Dan Munns, embedding HTML is quite dangerous because of script injections.
That link from Google Maps, might work as they authorise using the billing account, but other than that it will not work for almost anything.

We can add that widget but it will need to have  a big waring saying it will not work in all cases, so it can get quite technical.

It was not added because the customer that requested this never came back with the answer about why is needed (see previous comment).

What do you want to use it with? Becase an IFrame won't work with any website, in fact most websites are not allowing embedding in iframes.

Hi Daniel,

We'd love this, because we want to add our Microsoft bot to the customer portal, which allows you to integrate it via iFrames in to your own webpages.

OK, the widget is there, is just disabled. We'll enable the External Frame widget to the Employee Portal. It will probably be in the 2nd next build of the Core UI. Possibly next week.

Is still coming in the next build. It's been a delayed because of other changes delivered in the same build. We plan for the middle/end of next week unless we find issues.

The best way to trace changes is to follow the Announcements community group ( https://community.hornbill.com/forum/135-announcements/ ). If you register your email address it will send you an email each time an application is updated.

I expect the build to go Live this Thursday, but again, as we are still testing that build any issue we find can delay that further. 

This build is exceptional because of many backend changes, that's why is taking time for us to test everything. My apologies for that.

I have seen the update today: 

I went in and started to use the external page widget but came back this afternoon to see that it is gone and unavailable for selection.

I did log out and back in again to make sure it wasn't a session problem.

Does this mean the change has been rolled back?

Hi @AlexOnTheHill,

Some customer had issues with the new build so we had to roll back and investigate the issue. Once is sorted we'll bring it back.

You should see it as a new release in the same community group.
