Asset state - Current or Active?

Not a silly question at all.  There is some room for your own interpretation of what they mean and how you want to use these two statuses.  I personally see the difference with these descriptions as...

  • Current - this may be an asset that has just arrived and you want to add it to your asset stock, but it is not yet in active use.  Or possibly it was an active asset in use by someone who has just left the company, and it has been put back in storage to be used later.  So, it is not active, nor is it retired.
  • Active - live and in use.
