The reason that these were not originally included is that the status is part of the criteria that can be defined within the views. For example your View could only show Closed or Cancelled requests which then makes this view of the statuses irrelevant. If a View contains a number of different criteria, one of those being to only show New requests, there might be some confusion if this was displayed. All of the other filter options such as the request type buttons, teams, etc are also not used when a View is applied. I'm happy to hear more feedback about this and if it would help other customers.
