dwalby
Hi all, Is it possible to link Activities to assets? Usage scenario: When disposing of IT assets I was hoping we could create a template Activity (with checklist, etc. for the asset disposal process) and link it to the asset for a historical/visibility view. Thanks in advance
Steven Boardman
Hi @dwalby if you install Configuration Manager, all Assets (CI's) which are In Policy will have the ability to have activities scheduled against them https://wiki.hornbill.com/index.php/Configuration_Manager Hope that helps Steve
dwalby
@Steven Boardman - Thanks Steve, another reason I need to go through and add all my assets to In Policy I raised the question yesterday regarding the timeline visibility within assets that you answered. dwalby
@Steven Boardman silly question possibly, how do you schedule/link activities to an asset once it's In Policy ? I can't see an option anywhere and couldn't see anything within the wiki explaining this.

When you set the Asset to "In Policy" via Configuration Manager, go back to the Asset itself within Service Manager and you will now see the timeline and there should be a button on the right hand side that will allow you to create an Activity.
Steven Boardman
@dwalby as @samwoo says, this extends the options when you view the Asset in SM, and the activities option will be available to you along with the timeline for the asset
