Remove e-mail notifications whilst retaining ability to send

Hi all,

We have 1 mailbox within Service manager, only members of the Service Desk need access to monitor this mailbox and be notified of new e-mail. All other members of IT only send e-mail from this mailbox when handling requests, but do not need to see new e-mail. Is it therefore possible to remove the e-mail icon and e-mail count from the notifications area for certain teams/analysts?

Yes. If I remember correctly, I believe both @Lyonel and @Martyn Houghton have similar configurations in their instances? This can be achieved by creating custom roles, perhaps they can share these with you?

Sorry gentlemen, to throw you in the mix, but you would be the best to advice since you have this implemented and working in your instances :)

@dwalby as @Victor said, we have something similar. The workaround we use is to create a custom role in the system settings that will allow analysts to send emails through a request, but not have access to the mailboxes themselves (and therefore not having notifications displayed).

Here are the settings:

Database rights is too long to post, but basically nothing is selected :)

Hope this helps you.
