Board to appear on 'Display Columns'

Hello Again

The Service Desk Team manually add calls as we do not have Business Process implemented our end - this works, however; there are rare occasions where calls calls may not be added due to 'forgetfulness' etc .

From the main view, it would be nice to see if we can have 'Board' added to the display column.  This will allow the team to pick up any missed calls and select multiple calls and move them to the appropriate board efficiently.

Thanks for your assistance as always.

Regards

@shamaila.yousaf your suggestions will be certainly considered by our product managers and developers. I was curious if there is any specific reason why requests are manually added to the board, is this simply because a BP is not yet in place or the BP does not have the functionality to achieve what you need?

There would be a problem with this, a ticket can be added to more than one board at a time so the data model would not lend its self to having a column in the request list to show the board the request is in as it could be more than one board.  It would be better to deal with this in your business process design instead.

Thanks @Victor, @Gerry.

We do not have a BP created for this. Will look into the possibility of arranging a BP moving forward if required.

I wasn't aware that calls can be added to more than one board, I am sure I tested this previously and did it not allow me to add to another board - so this is news to me :P.  Will give this a try.

Hi @shamaila.yousaf

Somewhere to start is by looking at the actual request and view the Board Action.  This will show all the boards that the request is currently listed on.  In the latest update there is also an option to remove the request from one of the boards by clicking on the X.

If the Board that you are trying to add it to is not listed and you are still getting a message that it can't be added, can you check if you only have ''View Only'' rights to the board.  The boards that you have ''View Only'' rights shouldn't be listed on the ''Add to Board'' option, but just wanted to check.

Thanks both.  Ok, so it doesn't help that I have not made myself clear in my original post - sorry to have wasted your time:(

So Gerry is correct in saying that calls can be logged to multiple boards -  I was actually referring to was adding the call to multiple lists within the same board. Which is not possible. At present I have multiple lists within a board, guessing a simple workaround from my point would be to have separate boards so I can add to multiple boards as & if required.

Yes I think you probably ought to look at how you are using the boards, if you find yourself needing to have an object in more than one list on the same board you should look ay how you are using boards, you are probably trying to do too much with a single board, break it down keeping in mind the restriction on having an object appear only once per board and it should become self-guiding for you.

Glad we got to the bottom of it - you can see how important terminology is :)
