Henrik Brattlie, Manag-E Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Working with Hornbill ESM without a mouse/touchpad is a bit hard. Thankfully searching for links, scrolling through them with Enter, selecting with Esc and selecting with Enter works like a charm. Tabs work great in forms, dates can be selected with arrows. That's all good, but there is still room for improvement. Could we please have som keyboard shortcuts? A hot key to select search would be very usefull. Is there one that I can't find? How about J and K to scroll through comments, and L to like? Facebook has some good ones (attached) which can be used for inspiration.
Guest Chaz Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 There's just the one dedicated shortcut combination at the moment which allows you to quickly navigate to a particular request when you have the ID to hand. CTRL + SHIFT + F
Gerry Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Hi @Henrik Brattlie, Manag-E Thank for the suggestion, this has come up before and its something we want to look at, the team will investigate options and post back here once we know more. Gerry 1
Daniel Dekel Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Hi @Henrik Brattlie, Manag-E, I like the idea! I've added a Change Request for this and my feeling is that it will be done within 3 months. Once I have a better idea about what it involves I'll let you know about the times. Thanks, Daniel. 1
Daniel Dekel Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Hi @Henrik Brattlie, Manag-E, We've added some basic shortcuts and a platform where applications can add shortcuts to the list. If you have access to BETA, you should be able to see this working. In Windows type Alt+0 or Ctrl+0 in Mac. That will open the list of available shortcuts. Also, there are some automated ones for the favourites in the new menu. The first Fav will use the Alt+1, the second in the list will be assigned Alt+2 until 9. We will continue improving this are but if you have any feedback please let us know. Thanks, Daniel
Henrik Brattlie, Manag-E Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 Thanks for the update. It looks good! The shortcuts to favorites is a nice touch. Hoping for shortcuts to more stuff. Like refresh current request and save current request.
Lyonel Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 @Daniel Dekel You should post something on your Feature Friday blog about these shortcuts !!! This is a really cool small feature that is very useful 2
Daniel Dekel Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Hi @Henrik Brattlie, Manag-E, The current release gives a platform for the applications to add their own shortcuts as well as implement some global shortcuts like Alt+C (local filter) or Alt+N (New). So depending on the page you are the it will for example create a new Contact, Organisation or Request. At the beginning you will see areas that do not implement this shortcuts, but it will slowly with the new builds. We will also keep on adding more to the list. Thank you, Daniel 1
Daniel Dekel Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Hi @Lyonel, yes, is a good idea. Is just a bit early (if you read the my previous comment) but probably once it all works in all our applications we will show it on the Feature Friday! By the way, we are also working on adding better support for keyboard navigation using the native browser keys like Tab (go from one input to another) or Arrow Up/Down to navigate on drop downs... Soon... ;-) Thanks for the feedback! Daniel
Gerry Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Daniel, How do you get the Keyboard Shortcut Help window up? keyboard shortcut maybe Gerry
Daniel Dekel Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Hehehe @Gerry... I've added a link to open the popup from the About Panel. Needed at least one place to add it. But as Lyonel mentioned, we will need to place a video of this and maybe a Harry Hornbill Notice. Although, this forum is getting quite busy :-) Daniel
Lyonel Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 @Daniel Dekel a Harry Hornbill notice would be even better to target all users Although this forum is busy, none of my colleagues are using it so the reach would not be optimal if you only count on the forum 1
